VIA NetNote system
I am happy to see the new mashup between netbooks and notebooks, called (drumroll) NetNotes. Looks like VIA has aimed right for the sweet spot that provides more performance than netbooks and yet a lighter, more demure and fashionable form factor than notebooks, at a price point that is pretty darn close to the netbook (provided some telco isn’t subsidizing it). You might want to extend your stay during CES and tour some open houses to grab a bargain property. The returns may be a whole lot better than playing the slots. Gambling was down 15 percent the first six months of 2009 and the Strip is hurting like it’s never hurt before, and in a place that depends on food, drink, hospitality real estate and construction (53% – almost twice the national average) that’s not good.
Las Vegas doesn’t really produce much more but hand and booty shakes, and it does that very well. Continue Reading »
