It’s the weekend, and yes it’s a gorgeous California day outside but I just crawled out from under my desk from my semi-annual 45-degree rotation of my desk so the moving Phoebus aestus doesn’t shine in my eyes through the large windows beyond my monitor.

You wouldn’t believe the mess under my desk unless you too share in the mangle of tangled wires that seems to grow with every new laptop, phone, camera charger, abandoned flash card reader, and mystery pile of AC adapters that belong to…who knows what. Many of these use power supplies that suck phantom power and waste energy.

Lunch@Piero’s sponsor, GreenPlug, recently announced the winners of the “What’s Under Your Desk” photo sweepstakes.

The best picture by John Trosko of Los Angeles, won him lunch with green advocates, Christopher Knight and Adrianne Curry, co-hosts of the VH-1 reality show, “My Fair Brady.” Second prize winner, Chris Johnston won a $500 shopping spree at Wal-Mart and a $250 contribution to his favorite green non-profit by GreenPlug. Third place winner, Michael Arnold, will direct his prize to a local school program to educate kids about conservation, recycling and alternative energy.
