Kingston makes flash memory sing

Why market flash memory with nothing on it?
We caught up with
Lunch @ Piero‘s sponsor, Kingston Technology to find out how they are putting a new spin on the memory biz.

Kingston_MicroSD_w_Ricky MartinKingston Technology has seized a golden opportunity to provide its customers with great free content on its flash memory. A special microSD card/USB reader kit is now available loaded with free, preloaded select music, video and mobile phone wallpapers in jpg format from the recent release of “Ricky Martin Live: Black & White Tour.” Content includes the tracks “Somos la Semilla,” “Tu Recuerdo,” concert images and a compelling music video that opened Ricky Martin’s smash “Black & White” world tour. Want it? You can get it on Amazon.com.

In the past, Kingston Technology has released microSD cards with preloaded with songs, college ringtones, wallpaper or some handy user apps in a promotion with T-Mobile. The Ricky Martin SD card is their latest. The 1GB microSD card and USB reader kit comes with a little applet that makes it easy to transfer content to and from the the SD card and computer or mobile device.

This kind of great marketing works both ways – it adds some pizazz to the Flash memory market but it’s also yet another way that musicians are extending their own brands worldwide. Some companies just know how to do things in style.
