Focus is the key at Lunch@Piero’s during CES
The RSVPs for Lunch@Piero’s, the media and innovator event during 2008 CES are coming in earlier than usual this year. One of the technology bloggers who has attended over the past several years said “Lunch at Piero’s is the best for focus.” I take that as a great compliment. This showcase for consumer electronics and new technologies is not a party, but rather, it is a serious working lunch for reporters who are “on the clock” and looking for good interviews, demos and stories. Since we’re so conveniently located across the street from the convention center, it’s easy for media to work this consumer electronics showcase into their schedule. We promise to maintain the spirit of focus: no big-screen broadcasts of football games or noisy entertainment to compete with dialogue and demos during Lunch@Piero’s. Where else can you enjoy a fabulous lunch and get up close with company execs to talk about new consumer electronics products during this press-only event during CES?
This year, reporters for consumer electronics magazines are asking for stories now, promising to embargo them till CES. For print media, this is about the only way they can compete with bloggers, so we are connecting them with Lunch at Piero’s sponsors to speak with them in advance but under embargo. The same reporters come to our lunch event for follow-up stories and the all-important hands-on experience and face time with the sponsors.
There’s nothing like being first to see new ultramobile devices, mobile phone, memory products, new displays, networking, car PCs, and particularly exciting consumer electronics running Free and Open Source (FOSS) applications. From the looks of it, we’ll be unveiling some new products that you won’t see on the CES 2008 show floor. Stay tuned.
